    There may be some quality issues in the design and manufacturing process of power equipment, and damage may occur during installation and transportation, leading to potential failures. During the operation of power equipment, its insulation performance may deteriorate or even lose its insulation performance due to factors such as voltage, heat, chemistry, and mechanical vibration, leading to accidents.

    According to relevant statistical analysis, over 60% of power outages in the power system are caused by equipment insulation defects. The deterioration and defect development of the insulation part of the equipment have a certain development period. During this period, insulation materials will emit various physical, chemical, and electrical information, reflecting changes in the insulation state. This requires the electrical measurement personnel of the operation department to understand and master the insulation condition of the equipment before or during operation, so as to accurately and timely detect and handle faults in the early stages of development The name comes from preventive testing.

    The insulation defects of power equipment can be divided into two categories: one is concentrated defects, such as partial discharge, local moisture, aging, local mechanical damage, etc; The second type is distributed defects, such as overall insulation moisture, aging, deterioration, etc. The existence of insulation defects inevitably leads to changes in insulation performance.
