Why not use DC withstand voltage
Compared with DC voltage, the voltage, waveform, frequency, and electric field state inside the insulation of the tested object in AC testing are consistent with the actual operating conditions, and the test voltage is higher than the value of the internal overvoltage. Therefore, it can effectively detect the main insulation defects of electrical equipment, especially for the insulation defects of the stator winding slot, which is more effective than DC withstand voltage.
The role of implementing communication withstand voltage
The AC withstand voltage test is also one of the most rigorous, direct, and effective methods for evaluating the insulation strength of electrical equipment. It plays a decisive role and significance in determining whether electrical equipment can be put into operation. AC withstand voltage is also an important means to ensure the insulation level of electrical equipment and avoid power accidents.
AC withstand voltage also belongs to destructive testing
Due to the fact that the test voltage used for AC withstand voltage is much higher than the operating voltage, excessively high voltage can cause cable heating, increase insulation medium loss, and accelerate insulation defects. Therefore, AC withstand voltage is a destructive test in a sense!
Communication voltage resistance requirements
According to the preventive testing regulations, an AC voltage of 30-300Hz is used for AC withstand voltage. We usually use a series resonance test device. During the testing process, the test voltage should be kept within 1% of the specified voltage value for 1 minute or 15 minutes. Throughout the entire process of AC withstand voltage, the voltage value should be kept within 3% of the specified voltage value.
